iPhone Shots

iPhone Photography Community Website

Hi,

I think it would be interesting for everyone involved in iPhone photography to know what apps other people are using and why. You can list the pros and cons of the apps you use the most and also describe your workflow. People who have little or no experience with these apps can ask questions here and those who have more experience are invited to share their knowledge.

To join the discussion, just reply to this message.
Feel free to illustrate your reply with sample photos. To do that, put the cursor where you want your image to appear and click on the camera icon located on the editor's toolbar to select a photo on your computer.

Thanks,
Jacques

Question. Which apps can you place type on top of photos? Anybody have some examples?

Jeffrey,

Within the apps that I use regularly, I know that Photogene has a symbol feature, which lets you add some text in a fancy way just like this:

I also use Camerakit that lets you add a signature at the bottom of your photos, just like this:

Neither app lets you change the font size or color. There must be other apps that let you personalize the text you want to add.

My favorite apps are CameraBag and Photoshop. CameraBag mostly because I've been using it for a while, but I do like the vintage camera filters that it offers. The exposure and cropping options in Photoshop are especially nice. I would like to be able to set the border size in both, though.

I've used Photoshop Elements on my iMac for some time. With my recent purchase of an iPhone, I searched for an app that had a tool set similar to PSE. I found PhotoForge and have been pleased with the tool set thus far. I've not tried PS for the iPhone, or any other photo apps yet, but will eventually.

I've enjoyed editing images in PhotoForge and while it will never replace PSE, for a $2.99 app it offers a rather comprehensive tool set in a user friendly package.

A nice filter set includes "Oil Painting" and "Water Color" and I've had fun with these on some images of plants and landscapes.

Here is an original image of some palm trees near my home along with the "Oil Painting" version.

Does anyone have some experience with Photoshop on the iPhone? Could they show us some samples of post-processing with this app?
Thanks.

I use Photoshop occasionally.

A little over the top saturation and soft focus and you get this -

A fun app to use but as with all iPhone apps not the answer for every situation.

Great effect! Thanks.

I've been using Mill Colour. It's free and offers some cool filters.
